Star and Crown's Cultural Change Efforts
A culture transformation expert has spoken about the challenges he faces during a transformation attempt by Star Entertainment Group, the casino's parent company, amid a second investigation into Star Sydney's suitability for licensing. The company has faced legal scrutiny after an investigation found flaws and alleged breaches of gambling regulations. Similarly, Starr's rival Crown Resorts was also the subject of an investigation due to insufficient due diligence checks and cooperation with junket operators with potential links to criminal gangs.
However, an expert close to the issue says one of the companies has shown a genuine commitment to transformation, while the other appears reluctant to make significant changes to its operations. Dr. Atracta Lagan, co-head of Management Values, a company that focuses on cultural change on issues related to values and ethics cited by the IAG recently, says there are significant differences between the cultural transformation efforts shown by Star and Crown Resorts.
She explained that Robbie Cook, the former CEO of The Star, played a key role in raising funds while ensuring the company's future. However, Raagan said, "They (Star) spent a lot of money on consultants, never built an organization from within, and never hired anyone to help manage cultural change."
The expert flagged another concern that included the "closed culture" and "us versus them" mentality observed at Starr amid ongoing investigations by gambling regulators. The co-director of Managing Values pointed out that Starr "never listened," and that the company's culture was driven by fear because many employees were worried about losing their jobs.
Strong leadership plays a pivotal role in every business transition
Lagan emphasized the importance of leadership and strong management, adding that temporary management also plays a key role in the company's successful business transformation. However, she said that despite the hard work of the workers who did their best, they lacked leadership. 안전 슬롯사이트
Earlier this week, it was alleged that the record was broken, with a second investigation into the casino's license suitability under way against Star Sydney. Slow culture change and lack of leadership were among the issues raised by the venue's specially appointed manager, Nicholas Weeks. In testimony this week, he said "lack of leadership" was the main reason the company's progress was slower than expected. According to Ragan, there were significant differences between Star and Crown's efforts.
